Big Ben RGB

Photobucket

a tricky question:

a pedra transmite pedra
a televisão transmite o Big Ben!

eu olho e vejo o Big Ben!

vou desligar a parede.
aqui sim, é uma parede de televisores.

concluíndo,
este on/off da fachada multimédia faz-me muita confusão;

get it? é este o meu nó.

work in progress

Photobucket

Gulliverisation

Photobucket
a propósito do Dubai,
da minha tese
e de perceber o que me fascina na arquitectura;

Independentemente dos erros que tem, o Dubai tem o orgulho de ter (neste momento) o mais alto edifício do mundo - o Burj Khalifa; e eu babei-me a ver e a subir ao Empire State Building do séc. XXI;
para mim, a vista para a cidade de um arranha-céus é de uma equivalente à de um arquitecto a ver a maquete;
acima de tudo faltou projecto urbano;

uma apresentação de televisões com tecnologia 3d cujo lugar de arrumação é na fachada de edifícios ou na superfície do espaço público;

pergunto:
porque parece sugerir que esta implantação consiga mover tanta gente?;

o que ganha (ou perde) o espaço urbano com reproduções virtuais de ambientes naturais (cataratas, florestas, oceanos)?;

o que fazem televisões de 3 dimensões no espaço já de si a três dimensões?;

ENIGMATICA

Enigmatica is a work in progress exploring new concepts in combining light, sound and space to create multi-dimensional synesthetic environments. The work experiments with spatial segmentation, illusory oddities and aural expression, freely shifting from order to disconnection and sweeping through the spectrum of colours from softly subtle to psychedelic. By constantly reforming the dynamics within the space, the installation demonstrates the potential for creating new forms of digital sculpture.

1968 - Instant City, Archigram

On defining the postindustrial city as a network of information and entertainment, Archigram proposed a novel urban structure, i.e. that arising from the disassociation between hardware, its physical body, and software, i.e. all those activities which, following the Marxist maxim of "everything solid disappears into thin air," can be applied with a spray.
Thanks to the technological and media development, the process of instant metropolization would be propagated in an exponential manner, progressively enriching its meanings, as can be seen in the run through the succession of test fields that Archigram devised starting from south-east England and moving towards the Mediterranean.
The original urban project became a suggestive artistic piece on flying over the skies of Kassel, and reinvented itself as an irresistible festive artefact on touching down in Montecarlo.
However, the definitive flight test of the city of Los Angeles was provided by the disheartening vision that Ridley Scott gave of it in Blade Runner, demonstrating the potential of the instant city as a control device. The message ended up transforming the medium, in all its crudeness; the optimistic flight of the airships crossing the skies of the European city bathing it with the light from its lamps, tingeing it with advertising colors, and perfuming it with exotic tongues, became an oppressive threat, and fear darkened the luminous face of the show city.

Cher fachada

Estava eu no carro a ouvir M80 quando deu Cher - Strong Enough.

this is the reason why i'm lovin' it

Photobucket

The cover of this issue of Artkrush is a detail of a still photograph of sleepwalkers, a public artwork by video artist Doug Aitken. Presented by New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Creative Time, the installation consists of eight projections on six surfaces of MoMA at night. The video investigates the ambulant lives of five lonely strangers, steeped in the mire of urban life.

The projections follow a steel executive (Donald Sutherland), a bike messenger (Ryan Donowho), a postal worker (Chan Marshall of Cat Power), an electrician (Seu Jorge), and an office worker (Tilda Swinton) as they wake in the evening and begin their nocturnal vocations. They move simultaneously through their routines, emanating malaise, but exquisitely framed by Aitken’s surreal cinematography. As an organic entity capable of shaping lives, the city itself becomes the sixth character.

This “videotecture” spectacle at MoMA stems from Aitken’s previous projects, particularly his ongoing thematic emphasis on urban loneliness. In 1999, Aitken stormed the Venice Biennale with electric earth, a film tracing a bemused young man’s dance through an eerily empty cityscape. After winning the International Prize for the work, Aitken then reached a new apogee with new skin, the tale of a young woman in Tokyo, isolated from the outside world by impending blindness. Traces of this preoccupation with solitude permeate sleepwalkers despite its incorporation of bustling Manhattan. One scene takes place in an abandoned 19th-century vault near the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel, and Aitken chose Midtown Manhattan — usually lifeless at night — as his venue.

Youtube Live Tower

Photobucket
Já imaginaram? (roubei a imagem do projecto India Tower)

Photobucket
E como sede de uma TvCabo? Também podia resultar.

Bayer Headquarters, Leverkusen

The cladding of the former Bayer corporate Headquarter in Leverkusen with the mesh systems Mediamesh® and Illumesh® is almost completed. The last of the overall 684, each 7, 20 metres long and four metres wide weave panels have been assembled. The 122 metre high building is going to be completely cladded with the stainless steel mesh with interwoven LED profiles. 18,000 square metres of the stainless steel mesh - that equals the size of approximately two and a half soccer pitches – cover the 29 floors of the building. The 5.6 million LEDS will turn the distinctive building into a landmark of a successful industrial history.

MoodWall

The Moodwall is a pilot project for a 70 meter long media wall proposal by Urban Alliance which won a competition for ideas to improve the public space of the social unsafe area of the Amsterdam Bijlmer.

The Moodwall is situated in a pedestrian tunnel and interacts with people. The interactive urban wallpaper is built out of about 2500 leds behind a ribbed semi-transparent wall.

Urban Alliance specializes in media objects in which state of the art media techniques are integrated in architecture and design. Their mission is to integrate modern communication technologies in the built environment in order to create interactive public spaces and objects.

Urban Alliance partner Illuminate Interactive Media created the sensor system that makes the wall react to pedestrians and designed the visual content in collaboration with Visual Interactive Designer Matthias Oostrik.
