MÚSICAS DA DÉCADA '00

As minhas escolhas não se conseguem descolar de alguns artistas musicais que, a meu ver, foram essenciais nos últimos 10 anos. Animal Collective, Franz Ferdinand, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, M.I.A. ou Amy Winehouse foram aqueles que, para mim, marcaram uma década dominada pelo crescimento da música independente/alternativa, electrónica e do super Pop. Longe estão as boys/girls band; o que deram foram os artistas a solo, a mescla de referências de outras décadas, sons globais, o arriscar em bravar novos caminhos/novas imagens, o campo da divulgação do trabalho (MySpaces, YouTubes), a pirataria.. and so on.. Foi uma década revolucionário para a indústria da qual eu só consigo destacar aqueles que de uma ou outra maneira trouxeram alguma frescura e não mais do mesmo; novas expressões musicais a par de vídeos musicais de excepção (p.ex.: todo o repertório de Michel Gondry) e ainda as grandes performances em palco (playback? isso é da década de 90..) que, vamos admitir, assistiram a um aumento de qualidade (era o que se pedia no mínimo..) e à proliferação de festivais que trouxeram bandas excepcionais à terra lusa. Sem mais demoras, amei a última década.

Sem mais demoras: estas são as minhas escolhas. Um leque variado de músicas que por uma ou outra razão me fizeram recordar os últimos anos a chorar, a cantar, a pensar ou a saltar.

INCEPTION TEASER TRAILER

Este é, para mim, o filme para 2010. Da história, sabe-se pouco, mas pelas imagens do trailer dá para perceber que a coisa é grande e aparentemente interessante.
Inception, de Christopher Nolan, conhecido realizador de Dark Knight e (do espectacular) Memento.
By the way, Sherlock Holmes é um filme altamente recomendável.

The cover of this issue of Artkrush is a detail of a still photograph of sleepwalkers, a public artwork by video artist Doug Aitken. Presented by New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Creative Time, the installation consists of eight projections on six surfaces of MoMA at night. The video investigates the ambulant lives of five lonely strangers, steeped in the mire of urban life.

The projections follow a steel executive (Donald Sutherland), a bike messenger (Ryan Donowho), a postal worker (Chan Marshall of Cat Power), an electrician (Seu Jorge), and an office worker (Tilda Swinton) as they wake in the evening and begin their nocturnal vocations. They move simultaneously through their routines, emanating malaise, but exquisitely framed by Aitken’s surreal cinematography. As an organic entity capable of shaping lives, the city itself becomes the sixth character.

This “videotecture” spectacle at MoMA stems from Aitken’s previous projects, particularly his ongoing thematic emphasis on urban loneliness. In 1999, Aitken stormed the Venice Biennale with electric earth, a film tracing a bemused young man’s dance through an eerily empty cityscape. After winning the International Prize for the work, Aitken then reached a new apogee with new skin, the tale of a young woman in Tokyo, isolated from the outside world by impending blindness. Traces of this preoccupation with solitude permeate sleepwalkers despite its incorporation of bustling Manhattan. One scene takes place in an abandoned 19th-century vault near the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel, and Aitken chose Midtown Manhattan — usually lifeless at night — as his venue.
